Our Story
Born from love.
Built for
We didn't set out to build a business. We set out to make sure no one's family would ever have to watch someone they love fade away inside a facility that didn't feel like home.
Where It Began
Our grandmother Sally, was a force. Sharp, warm, full of life the kind of woman who lit up every room she entered. When dementia began to take hold, we made the decision so many families make: we placed her in a large institutional memory care facility, trusting the professionals knew best.
What happened next changed everything. She didn't just decline physically. She disappeared. She eventually would pass there nowhere near the woman she was before. We questioned if there was a better way to treat our seniors. The facility, was clean. The staff weren't unkind. But there was nothing in that environment that said home. She passed away inside those walls, and our family never stopped asking: there has to be a better way.
"She lost her zest for life the moment she walked through those doors."
The pivot in 2015
That question became a commitment. In 2015, we converted a 4,800 sq ft home into a 9-bed residential assisted living facility our first step toward a fundamentally different model of care. We brought in an outside operator, believing the business side would run itself. It didn't. Poor performance made one thing abundantly clear: if you want it done right, you have to do it yourself. We took over operations, learned everything firsthand, and never looked back.
Today
45
Total licensed beds across our homes
2
Purpose-built 9,500 sq ft luxury homes
10+
Years hands-on operational experience
3x
3 years county's best Assisted Living and Memory Care. We intend to make it 4 years in a row.
We earned those awards surrounded by bigger, nationally known operators with more resources and more marketing muscle. We won because of what happens inside our homes, not what's on the sign out front. A fourth home is currently under construction, and we intend to make it 4 years in a row.
A True Family Affair
I also bring something to this work that most RAL operators don't: 25 years as a licensed clinical therapist. Helping people genuinely, take out ,deeply helping them isn't something I learned in this business. It's who I am. That foundation shapes everything about how we hire, how we operate, how we design our homes, and how we train the people who work in them.
This is not a corporate operation. My parents are involved. My wife is involved. My brother and sister-in-law are involved. Every person connected to what we do has a personal stake in making it exceptional because we know exactly what it feels like to be on the other side of that door, hoping the people you love are being treated the way you'd treat them yourself.
Why we teach
We're sharing everything we've learned because the country really needs more operators who care as much as we do. The demand for quality senior housing is only growing, and the biggest gap in the market isn't beds. It's operators who know how to run a home that actually feels like one. RAL Success Blueprint exists to close that gap. Every strategy, every lesson, every hard-won insight from building and operating 45 beds across multiple homes — including two ground-up, purpose-built 9,500 sq ft homes designed specifically for this model — is now in your hands. We didn't learn this in a classroom. We learned it by doing it, making the mistakes, fixing them, and building something we're genuinely proud of. If we can help the next generation of operators skip even a fraction of the hard lessons we paid for, that's a mission worth showing up for every single day.
